CARB houses about 15 independent research groups united by interests in biomolecular and chemical structure, function and design.

CARB provides a weekly seminar series with outside speakers and a weekly internal seminar series. Additional seminars of interest are held at the nearby National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and local biotechnology companies such as The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR) and Life Technologies.

The lab's space is designed for computational research and is wired with fast ethernet. We have a dedicated Linux cluster with ~100 fast, rack-mounted dual-CPU nodes, located in a climate-controlled computer room. Each group member has an office or cubicle with 1-3 personal computers, a blend of Windows, Linux and, decreasingly, SGI.
